It is very important to teach your kids not only to save money, but the value of it. This has to start very early in life, as soon as they are able to understand math concepts, and are able to do chores around the house. You should try and start by giving them an allowance, even if your budget is tight, and there are many reasons. For starters, an allowance will save you money in the long run. This is because if you give your kids whatever they want all the time, you can spend up to a hundred dollars a month just in junk. By having their own money, and if they spend it all frivolously, you can simply tell them that if they don’t have money to cover it, they can’t buy it.
