Do you have a child who wets the bed? If you answered yes to that question, you’re not alone. Many other parents have been faced with this problem. There are numerous potential causes for a child’s bedwetting problem. It could be a physical issue, such as a bladder that has lagged in development when compared with the rest of the body. Sleep problems can also come into play. If a child sleeps so heavily that they don’t wake up to go to the potty, this causes issues. In cases such as this, a bedwetting alarm can prove to be useful.

Regardless of the cause for bedwetting, the end result is always the same — exhausted parents and kids who are embarassed because of their condition. Mattress pads can be helpful at times, but you’re still left with the underlying bedwetting condition and lots of wet, smelly sheets.

When it comes to bedwetting alarms, there are many different types to choose from but they all work in a similar fashion. They train your child to wake up when they have an accident. Eventually, children learn to recognize the sensations leading up to bedwetting and accidents are avoided. By combining training when you are awake and use of the bedwetting alarm when your child is asleep, you can help teach them to wake up before they have had an accident.

There are a few different bedwetting alarm systems and they can be divided into two groups. Ones that use a mattress pad, and others that clip to a child’s pajamas. Regardless of the type, a bedwetting alarm works by sensing moisture and then emitting a sound to wake the child up.

Alarms that attach to childrens clothing are more sensitive than others. The problem with this is, some kids may not like having an alarm clipped to their clothes. A pad is good but it does take more fluids to react, which means that they generally do not react soon enough to prevent an accident.

If your child is struggling with keeping the sheets dry at night, you may want to consider using a bedwetting alarm. Although they will not immediately solve the problem they are an excellent way of helping your child eventually achieve independence and save you the need to do laundry quite so much.
