Hallae Grace And Her Mama
June 10th, 2009I always told my daughter she was my “gift from God.” Children used to believe EVERYTHINGÂ you said as truth. They believed you word for word. I think the “kids” have become much more savvy these days.
One night on our way back home late from a friend’s home she asked me,
“What did I look like when I came in a box from God?”

HALLAE GRACE (My daughter)
by Merry C. Battles
Â
Oh child, gift from the lord,
Innocence and bliss in all living things.
Smiles and tears wrapped in a covering of joy.
Deep brown eyes, knowing all love and caring thoughts -
A mirror of the universe,
The small universe of home.
Oh lord, to have the sweetness of a caring soul,
To covet only a small while,
To embrace and shelter,
For as long as I can.
Hallae Grace you are an angel of the lord.
My gift from God,
Not wrapped in ribbons
But wrapped in all that is good and right and loving.

MAMA

Â
Mama, Mama, look to me
And see all that you will.
See me with arms open,
Heart alive.
See me look up to you and
Watch out for you, too.
Here I am small, but my
Spirit is of the universe,
My soul my very own.
My heart belongs to the world.
Make the world for me a loving, caring place
So that I may do the same for my children.
