Teen Boot Camps and Military Schools
October 16th, 2008There has been some incidents in the news over the past couple of years about teen boot camps. There has been many accusations of abuse and neglect. The media loves to exaggerate and make up all sorts of things in order to sell their story. To bad the news rarely reports all of the good that has come from these camps. Hundreds and hundreds of happy parents have been overjoyed with the change they have seen in their teens life’s. They come back with respect for themselves and others. They earn high school credits and almost all graduate.
Troubled teen boot camps focus on changing a teens behavior through rigorous exercise an self discipline. They follow a strict schedule that includes chores and school work. When you give a teen no choice but to follow the rules eventually their self esteem will increase and they will become a functional part of society.
The troubled teens mainly wear military style uniforms, and they will address their leaders as yes sir, no sir. The will only be allowed to talk when they are called on. They will have to ask permission to use the restroom and other minor tasks. They will wake up at 6 AM and go to bed at 9 PM. These structured boot camps rarely have T.V. Ipods and CD players and other personal electronics are not allowed on campus. Parents have the right to call the boot camps to see how their child is doing. But the teen has to earn the privilege of making a call home.
All in all boot camps can be a life changing thing for most families. If you or someone you know needs help let us know. Camps can be financed as low as $200 per month.
