Cheap College Books - Cashing in on College Savings Posted By : Don T

College is expensive, but cheap college books can be the one thing you can actually save money on. When my oldest daughter graduated from high school and ventured off to college, the cost was a little bit of a shock to me. Who could have guessed that a single biology book would be priced at nearly two hundred bucks? After that, three other courses and their textbooks remained.

Although she had earned herself a fantastic scholarship, we worried that the budget we had set would not provide adequate funding for her to participate in any extracurricular activities. At that point, I started looking for ways to save on expenses so I’d have money left for the rest of her college stuff.

When I saw the list of books my daughter needed for her second year of college, I could tell my “eating out” budget was going to be cut drastically. We had to buy six books, and that was just for one class! I can still remember the sinking feeling I had as I realized how much I’d have to spend on that one class.

That was the case, anyways, until I discovered an online site which provided great instructions on the way to locate cheap used college textbooks online. It was easy to follow the instructions, and ten minutes later I had a $300 savings under my belt.

I have found that campus bookstores are the worst place to shop for college textbooks. Sometimes you have no choice but to buy through them. If you can avoid the campus bookstore and do a little extra work shopping online, you will save hundreds of dollars each year buying cheap, new and used, college textbooks online.
