August 15th, 2008Magazines are a great resource for finding information on everything from saving money on school supplies, easy kid-friendly meal-planning, getting organized to motivating your kid to be excited to go school. Many family-oriented magazines like Real Simple, Parenting, Family Fun and Family Circle feature special back to school issues in August or September.
In the August issue of Real Simple Magazine there are several articles on creative tips on getting organized at home and ready for the back to school hustle and bustle. In the article, “How to Save on School Supplies,” the magazine lists several ways including taking advantage of tax-free weekends, shopping markdowns and discounts and how and where to ask for student discounts on large ticket items like computers.
The magazine is also chockfull of quick and simple kid-friendly meals to prepare for breakfasts and suppers and nutritional snacks to pack in lunches.
Still, in previous issues Real Simple Magazine has featured back-to-school articles on meeting with teachers, how to manage weeknight time and the best school products. Good Housekeeping magazine also has The Good Housekeeping Research Insititute, which tested backpacks, lunch boxes and snacks for the best value for the money.

Parenting Magazine also offers many practical get ready for back to school tips in its August issue. The magazine features tips like getting your child on a school-friendly sleep schedule gradually, attending a “meet the teacher” event before school starts and incorporating group activities into your child’s routine before school gets under way.
Another great magazine resource for back to school tips is Family Fun magazine. In its August issue this kidsÂ’ magazine features articles on back-to-school craft ideas, healthy lunches and snacks, time savers and ideas for classroom parties and games.
Still, Family Circle magazine also offers a bevy of how-to articles like “10 Solutions for Morning Madness,” “Back to School Money Saving Tips from Real Moms,” “10 Ways to Prepare Your Child for School” and “Take a Load Off: Backpack Tips.”
