5 Tips for New Moms to Sleep Better
May 5th, 2008We all know that new moms get very little sleep between diaper changes and feedings. Here are 5 tips that may help to improve your sleep routine.
Did you know that exercise during the day may help you sleep better at night? It is important not to exercise close to bedtime because you can’t comfortably sleep with an adrenaline rush! Keep your bedroom dark with room darkening blinds. Play a CD of soothing nature sounds or sounds of the ocean.
Another tip and pointer is to try and wound down at least 15 minutes before bedtime. Read a magazine or catch up on your favorite book. Now is not the time to start folding laundry or to balance your checkbook. Avoid Caffeine and chocolate at least 2 hours prior to bed although some experts advise not having any caffeine after noon.
It is important to begin a bedtime ritual if you do not already have one. This can consist of taking a bubble bath to unwind or making a cup of de-caf tea.
